New car sales up again in October (2013). Should hit 2.25 million by year end

The Ford Fiesta (pictured) tops the UK new car list in October It’s another growing month for car sales in the UK, with SMMT reporting that new car sales in the UK for October 2013 rose by 4 per cent to 157,314 and registrations for 2013 so far up 10.2 per cent to 1,952,238. This is the 20th month in a row that new car registrations have increased, forcing the SMMT to increase its forecast for total 2013 sales to 2.25 million. Used car values look strong for 2014

THE VALUE OF USED cars is set to stay strong in 2014 following a rise in values this year, according to the latest analysis of the market. The latest report by British Car Auctions shows that compared to last year, new-to-market car values are around 15% higher than this time last year while older part-exchange cars are as much as 20% higher than a year ago. Simon Henstock, BCA’s UK Operations Director commented “We have seen an upturn in the supply of dealer part-exchanges in 2013, reflecting reports that retail sales have been strong.

Geely's new Shanghai design studio at the center of four-studio operation

Geely Group's new central Shanghai Design Center is the global hub of its four-studio design operations. The facility on Guozhan Road, Pudong New District was formerly the site of the Central American Union Pavilion during the 2010 Shanghai EXPO and was chosen for its potential for growth despite its downtown location. The 3,800 square meter studio will be home to around 110 staff – both local and international – over the coming months, as part of the company's ongoing recruitment drive as it strives to be seen as one of the leading Chinese players.
